abstract

background: knowledge about the amphistomid fauna in iranian domestic ruminants depends on the studies conducted almost 30 years ago. the last situation in cattle is introduced here in the provinces in south coast of caspian sea. methods: amphistomid species were collected from cattle at slaughter houses of the provinces gilan and mazanderan in 2010. median sagittal sections were prepared by the conventional method. species were identified by the histomorphological pecularities of the muscular argans. results: five amphistomid species,  paramphistomum cevri, p. gotoi,   calicophoron calicophorum,  carmyerius spatiosus and gastrothylax compressus,  recovered. calicophoron calicophorum is a new species for iran. criteria used in identification of the species were illustrated. conclusion: iran has a rich amphistomid fauna and mostly under the influence of oriental conditions.

Stress Response of Dominant Forest Tree Species South of the Caspian Sea in Relation to Soil from Coast to Upland

Distribution and growth of plant species is affected by many factors including abiotic (topography, altitude and soil) and biotic (root symbiosis) factors. In light of global warming, recent findings advocate microhabitats and micro-conditions of the root zone and canopy ambiance as determining factors in sustaining of plant populations. Although, occurrence of ectomycorrhizal (ECM) and non...

Population dynamics and biological characteristics of kilka species (Pisces: Clupeonidae) in southeastern coast of the Caspian Sea

The aim of the present study was to investigate the age structure, length-weight relationship, sex ratio, sexual maturity stages, growth parameters, natural and fishing mortality coefficients of three species of kilka including common, anchovy and bigeye kilka. The fork length–weight relationship of common, anchovy and bigeye kilka were calculated as W=0.000153 FL2.37, W=0.000349 FL2.18 and W...

Distribution pattern of invasive barnacles of Caspian Sea, Amphibalanusimprovisus(Darwin, 1854), in the rocky shores of south Caspian Sea

Barnacles are most important macro benthic population of Rocky shores that Amphibalanusimprovisus is a dominant invasive species of this group. Present study aims to define the number, biomass, coverage rate and to study the factors affecting on the distribution of this species in various parts of rocky shores of south Caspian Sea. Ten sampling stations were selected in the natural and artific...
